For 2026, the Modena Speed range continues its evolution, shaped by years of intensive development, continuous refinement, and real-world validation at the Lüderitz Speed Challenge. Every model has been engineered with one objective in mind: delivering maximum speed while maintaining exceptional stability and confidence at the highest level of performance.

The Modena Speed 40 remains the benchmark of the range. Developed directly from years of speed-record research and testing, it offers the perfect balance of explosive acceleration, precise control, and uncompromising top-end speed, making it the purest expression of AV-Boards’ speed philosophy.

Inspired by the same design platform, the Modena Speed 45 shares the proven bottom shape and rocker line of the 40 while introducing a slightly more pronounced V in the tail. Combined with a wider outline, broader tail, fuller rails, and an additional 13 liters of volume, these refinements deliver greater lift, stronger drive, and outstanding control, making the 45 the ideal board for medium- to strong-wind speed competitions.

Modena Speed 40

The Modena Speed 40 features an ultra-efficient rocker line that remains virtually flat from the tail to approximately 93 cm, before transitioning into a smooth, constant curve toward the nose for maximum efficiency at extreme speeds.

Its bottom profile is flat over the first 60 cm from the tail, gradually blending into a subtle 0.5 mm single concave toward the front. Between the front footstrap area and the mast track, a light 1 mm double concave enhances water flow and directional stability.

The outline has been optimized by moving the maximum width slightly forward, creating a long, straight planing surface from the middle of the board to the tail, with a width of 24.5 cm measured one foot from the tail. Ultra-low rails are specifically designed to absorb chop and maintain control when sailing at speeds exceeding 40–50 knots.

Modena Speed 45

Built upon the successful platform of the Speed 40, the Modena Speed 45 retains the same efficient bottom configuration while introducing refinements for increased versatility and power.

The bottom remains flat for the first 60 cm from the tail before evolving into a gentle 0.5 mm concave, while the forward section incorporates a light 1 mm double concave to improve flow and stability.

A subtle 2 mm tail kick together with a slightly higher nose rocker enhances control in rougher conditions. Compared to the 40, the fuller rails provide additional flotation and forgiveness, while the lightly recessed deck allows riders to apply greater leverage through the rails. The board comfortably handles sail sizes of up to 7.0 m², making it an ideal choice for medium to strong wind speed sailing.

Modena Speed 52

The Modena Speed 52 has been developed for high-speed performance in open-water conditions, combining stability with exceptional control.

Its rocker incorporates a refined 1.5 mm tail kick, while the bottom features a light V through the tail that transitions into a flat section extending 40 cm forward. Between the front footstraps and the mast track, a shallow 0.5 mm concave works together with a subtle double concave to deliver a smooth, composed ride at maximum speed.

A 15 mm recessed deck lowers the rider’s stance to improve stability and leverage, while the rail profile, inspired by our slalom boards, provides the ideal balance between comfort, grip, and precise control in demanding conditions.
